Online Trauma Therapy in Texas, Idaho, and Florida With Kerrie Rouse, PhD, LPC, LMFT

EMDR and mindfulness-based cognitive online trauma therapy for trauma survivors

On the outside, it looks like you have it all

You’re a high achiever, a leader in your career field, and have family or romantic relationships that look happy and fulfilling.

But on the inside, you’re struggling.

Try as you might to hide it, you may be…

  • Stressed at work and at home

  • Anxious and agitated

  • Sad, lonely, and isolated

  • Struggling with self-criticism, doubt, and indecision

  • Fighting addiction

  • Afraid you’ll never be enough, no matter how hard you try

  • Worried your romantic relationships are unhealthy

  • Having difficulty communicating your needs and desires

  • Exhausted and burned out at work and at home

  • Secretly convinced that things will never change

This list is not exhaustive, and there are many other ways to experience trauma.

Trauma includes anything that left you feeling unsafe, uncared for, or overly vulnerable. And while it most likely happened during childhood, many adults experience trauma too.

But no matter what kind of trauma you endured, untreated trauma has a lasting influence in later life.

Trauma impacts your ability to have safe, healthy relationships. It lowers your self-worth and increases your likelihood of experiencing chronic anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. It plants the belief that you can’t handle difficult emotions or situations. And it keeps you feeling disconnected, not good enough, and unlovable.

But the pain and suffering caused by trauma doesn’t have to control you forever. You can learn to live a life beyond your trauma.

Hi, I’m Kerrie Rouse, PhD, LPC, LMFT

I offer online trauma therapy in Texas, Florida, and Idaho. I specialize in working with people who struggle with anxiety, depression, addiction, relationships, emotional turmoil, and work-life balance. I help my clients work toward a more fulfilling life – one that isn’t controlled by what happened in the past.

I’m here to help you understand how your current life has been impacted by your early experiences. I’ll support and guide you when you encounter challenging memories, thoughts, feelings, and situations. I’ll help you learn how to move beyond your trauma toward a life that feels calm, fulfilling, and empowering. Together, we’ll create lasting change so you can navigate all of life’s ups and downs with acceptance, love, and inner peace.

During our work together, we navigate your ongoing difficulties using warmth, humor, mindfulness, and proven therapeutic methods.

You will learn to:

  • Feel calmer and more in control

  • Navigate difficult emotions with grace and self-compassion

  • Cultivate resilience in the face of hardship

  • Trust yourself to make important decisions

  • Create healthy boundaries at home and at work

  • Connect more authentically to yourself and others

  • Overcome chronic anxiety and depression

  • Believe in your own strength, self-worth, and “enoughness”

  • Feel more fulfilled, joyful, and passionate

  • Gain control of your life and relationships

My Approach to Online Therapy for Trauma

My mission when providing online therapy for trauma is to provide high-quality, trauma-informed, accessible mental health care to my clients. I approach my online trauma therapy sessions with warmth, humor, kindness, openness, transparency, knowledge, and passion.

I’m not here to tell you what to do or how to live your life. Instead, your input, curiosity and current feelings guide our sessions. And I’ll never make you do anything you don’t want or aren’t ready for. We come up with a treatment plan together, and adapt as needed.

Because I tailor our sessions to you and your needs, I use a variety of evidence-based modalities in my practice.

These include Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), humanistic therapy, and cognitive behavior therapies – including dialectal behavior therapy and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy.

EMDR

Engages both sides of the brain to help you reprocess painful and traumatic memories. It typically involves therapist-directed eye movements, but can also include  alternating sounds or tapping. It helps soothe trauma symptoms like flashbacks, fear, anger, and numbness. It also helps repair negative self-beliefs and various other mental health challenges such as anxiety and depression.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Emphasizes the importance of both acceptance and change in order to help you heal. It helps you regulate your behaviors, develop mindfulness and insight, cultivate healthier and more satisfying relationships, and soothe distressing emotions and experiences.

Humanistic Therapy

Posits that every person has their own unique perspective in the world, and that perspective informs their choices, behaviors, and experiences. This modality emphasizes the importance of finding and becoming your true self – all the quirks and weird bits included – in order to feel successful and fulfilled in life.

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy

Combines meditation and mindfulness with traditional cognitive therapy ideas such as thought reframes and behavioral change. The idea is for you to develop a realistic view of your thoughts and patterns while cultivating new ways to navigate those thoughts and patterns.

Online therapy for trauma isn’t always easy. It requires vulnerability, openness to change, and a willingness to embrace discomfort.

But you won’t be alone in this journey.

No matter how you feel or what you experience, I promise to support and guide you through each session with compassion, empathy, and warmth in my online trauma therapy practice in Texas. If you feel ready to start your journey toward inner resilience, growth, and healing, schedule a free 15-minute consultation with me today.
